Gazeley today announces that construction has started on two key developments in Europe, demonstrating continued demand for the company’s sustainable logistics solutions. The starts on site showcase Gazeley’scontinued ability, even in the current climate, to deliver quality buildings in record time.
Italy
Gazeley is developing a 30,500m2 warehouse at Magna Park Monticelli, NorthernItaly, for Italia Logistica, one of the largest 3PL providers in Italy, on behalf of electricity provider Enel Distribuzione. The building, due to be delivered in March 2010, will serve the business needs of Enel Distribuzione in the North of Italy by consolidating existing distribution platforms into one logistics hub.
The development represents an investment of €16 million and the lease will run for an initial nine years, with a potential six-year extension. The building is strategically located at Gazeley’s flagship Magna Park development in Italy at Monticelli D'Ongina in close proximity to Piacenza, one of the most important logistics hubs in Italy. The building being developed for Italia Logistica is immediately adjacent to an existing 57,000m2 unit which is currently available.
Thomas Karmann, Senior Vice President, European Operations, Gazeley commented, “We are delighted to be supporting Italia Logistica in helping its customer achieve key business objectives. The well located development will facilitate the company’s consolidation of operations in Italy and demonstrates Gazeley’s ability to deliver bespoke sustainable solutions in record time – a mere eight months from start on site to completion in this case.”
Germany
The cornerstone for a new Iron Mountain archive centre has been laid at Magna Park Rhein-Main, near Butzbach. Gazeley, global provider of sustainable logistics, will develop the 7,500m2 facility to support Iron Mountain’s operations in Germany as the inaugural project in a worldwide partnership.
Work commenced on the 16,000m2 plot of land at Gazeley’s Magna Park Rhein-Main in September 2009 and will be completed by April 2010. The 18m high archive centre will be among Iron Mountain’s biggest and most technologically sophisticated, handling documents for customers from the Rhein-Main area.
Gazeley supports Iron Mountain in the supply of data storage centres under the global partnership agreement. The overall project, including the long-term lease, has already been sold to UK investor Marshgate for their closed-end fund and represents a multimillion pound investment.
Thomas Karmann said: “Thisis a great opportunity to demonstrate that Gazeley has the capability to cover the full scope of project development, from planning phase to construction and turn-key handover, including financing and investment.”
