Gazeley scoops fifth awards in a month

Gazeley, global provider of sustainable logistics, last week won its fifth award in a month for the cutting-edge sustainable development G.Park Blue Planet, Chatterley Valley, at the Industrial Agents Society (IAS) Awards.

The scheme, the first in the world to be awarded the new BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) “Outstanding” (design stage) rating, triumphed in the ‘Green’ category at the high profile  award ceremony.

Held by the influential IAS, which has almost a thousand members in the UK, the awards recognise the industry’s most prominent developers, occupiers and financiers, in particular the skill with which the industrial and logistics sector has tackled challenging market conditions.

The IAS award follows hot on the heels of Gazeley’s victory in the Best Industrial Development category at the UK Commercial Property Awards1. The achievement this award represents is testament to Gazeley’s success in the highly competitive UK and international property arenas.

These two awards follow three other major accolades over the last month, including:
  • Overall winner at the North Staffordshire Urban Design Awards
  • ‘Best Sustainable Development’ at the prestigious 2009 LEAF Awards
  • Winner in the ‘New Build – Commercial’ category at the Civic Awards in conjunction with the Newcastle Civic Society and Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council

Nick Redwood, Managing Director Europe, Gazeley said, “With G.Park Blue Planet at Chatterley Valley, we believe we have created an industry blue print for cutting-edge developments. Winning these awards has confirmed our belief that sustainability should be integral to the design of today’s logistics sites, and that businesses can benefit in terms of both the environment and their bottom line.”

G.Park Blue Planet at Chatterley Valley is a 36,024 sq m development, which houses the UK’s first truly carbon positive logistics development achieved without offsetting. What sets this development apart is that 100% of the energy and heat is supplied by renewable sources. This has helped it exceed the UK Governments Climate Change Bill targets for both 2020 and 2050 in 2009.

Nigel Dolan, Development Manager for Gazeley said, “We are delighted to have received yet more awards from some of the property industry’s most prestigious award programmes, and feel that they reward our considerable efforts in sustainability over the years.  G.Park Blue Planet delivers both extensive positive environmental impacts as well as total energy and water cost in use savings of up to £300,000 per annum and sets a new environmental standard for the UK logistics industry. To be recognised for this achievement by our industry makes these awards all the more satisfying.”
