Gazeley, global provider of sustainable logistics, recently won a further award for its flagship sustainable development G.Park Blue Planet, Chatterley Valley, at the Estates Gazette Green Awards.
The scheme, the first in the world to be awarded the new BREEAM (Building Research Establishment EnvironmentalAssessment Method) “Outstanding” (design stage) rating, was victorious in the prestigious ‘Green Industrial Development of the Year’ category.
The aim of the EG Green Awards is to highlight and reward excellence in sustainable development, as well as to raise environmental awareness. The public votes, together with the judges’selections and comments, were taken into consideration before agreeing the final winners in each category.
The award comes after five other accolades for G.Park Blue Planet this year. Most recently the development received an Industrial Agents Society (IAS) ‘Green’ award, while Gazeley also succeeded in the Best Industrial Development category at the UK Commercial Property Awards1.
Jonathan Fenton-Jones, Director of Sustainability and Global Procurementat Gazeley said, “We are thrilled that Gazeley has yet again triumphed in a leading industry award. The Estates Gazette accolade is testament to the success of our cutting-edge sustainable development G.Park Blue Planet. The scheme delivers both extensive positive environmental impacts as well as total energy and water cost in use savings of up to £300,000 per annum and sets a new environmental standard for the UK logistics building sector”.
G.Park Blue Planet at Chatterley Valley is a 36,024 sq m development, which houses the UK’s first truly carbon positive logistics development achieved without offsetting. What sets this development apart is that 100% of the energy and heat is supplied by renewable sources. This has helped it exceed the UK Governments Climate Change Bill targets for both 2020 and 2050 in 2009.
